Name 12 characters you have played in RPGs, before looking at the questions that follow. List your characters numbered 1 to 12, with the name of the RPG you played them in. Once you've picked your 12 characters, look at the questions and answer accordingly. (No peeking until you've picked your characters!) Put your answers behind a cut.

1) Who would make a better college professor: 6 (Decimus), or 11 (Steel Titan)?

Oh man... that's funny. My two thug characters. Steel Titan (being a 12' tall metal super-villain) would certainly command the students' attention. But Decimus (ex-Roman legionnaire and underworld muscle) did have more brains. I have to go with Decimus.

2) Do you think 2 (Quinn) is hot? How hot?

Eh... possibly. Depends on what you're into. Quinn is a cross between Indiana Jones and Wash (from Firefly). So if you like slightly goofy, brainy types... I mean, hell yes! Hot.

3) 12 (Zera) sends 8 (Thana) on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed?

Ha! Another funny coincedence. Thana and Zera are practically the same person -- i.e. kickass fighter babes, with heart. Zera was my Trollbabe character before I knew what Trollbabe was.

Anyway, Thana is the more bitter and revenge-minded of the two, so Zera would probably send her on a nasty mission that she couldn't do herself, like murdering the slave-lord that really has it coming.

4) What is, or would be, 9 (Fang Lei)'s favorite book?

The Holy Words of the Prophet Mahdi, peace be upon his name. The only book she ever read.

5) Would it make more sense for 2 (Quinn) to swear fealty to 6 (Decimus), or the other way around?

Decimus would swear fealty to Quinn. Quinn just isn't the servant type, and Decimus certainly is.

6) For some reason, 5 (Cyrus Vance) is looking for a room-mate. Should they share a studio apartment with 9 (Fang Lei), or 10 (Hutch)?

Hutch, definitely. Cyrus and Hutch are both military men. They would get along great.

7) 2 (Quinn), 7 (Zero Point), and 12 (Zera) have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?

A space explorer, super villain, and swordmaster go to dinner...

I think they all appreciate the finer things, for different reasons. So a nice 5-star joint, for sure. What do they talk about? I think it devolves into tech-talk. Quinn and Zero Point geek out on singularity drives, and then Zera tells them about flying ships in Talislanta and they just go nuts.

8) 3 (Leocedes) challenges 10 (Capt. Hutchinson) to a duel. What happens?

Yikes. That would be one nasty duel. Leocedes is a legendary Greek hero and the grandson of Leonidas, the king of Sparta. He is one of the greatest warriors to ever live. On the other hand, Hutch is a veteran special forces soldier who fights alien invaders for a living.

I guess it would come down to the type of duel. In a fair fight with swords, Hutch is a dead man. But given that, Hutch would definitely arrange for sniper support. :)

9) If 1 stole 8's (Thana's) most precious possession, how would they get it back?

Thana is a Trollbabe, and not a subtle one. She would walk right up, lift you by the neck, and demand that the item be returned. This is her nicest approach.

10) Suggest a title for a story in which 7 (Zero Point) and 12 (Zera) both attain what they most desire.

"The Champion of Zandu & the Techno-Wizard from Beyond the Veil: A Love Story."

11) What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 (Petros) and 1 (Nick Timber) to work together?

Petros is an agent for the Archer Foundation in the Nine Worlds. Nick Timber is a pulp adventurer currently exploring the solar system on an aether ship. Hmmm. Too easy. :)

12) If 7 (Zero Point) visited you for the weekend, how would you get along?

There would be a lot of shouting. I don't get a long with megalomaniacal super-villains, usually. "You can't keep the hostages here, dumbass! This is my home!"

14) Does anyone on your friends list resemble 11 (Steel Titan) (either in appearance or personality)?

Thankfully, no. Sure, some of them can be angry sometimes, but they've never ripped a car in half with their bare hands or helped topple the US government (successfully, anyway).

15) If 2 (Quinn) had to choose sides between 4 (Petros) and 5 (Cyrus), which would it be?

Quinn and Cyrus are both pilots (and pretty nice guys, too) so they would probably share a bond. Petros is on his own (as usual).

I just noticed that 4 of my 12 characters are pilots. Huh.

16) What might 10 (Capt. Hutch) shout while charging into battle?

"Delta team, execute!" Or, more colorfully... "Frag the alien bastards, boys!"

17) If you chose a song to represent 8 (Thana), which song would you choose?

A song for a Trollbabe. Heh. It's a toss-up between Ladytron's "Destroy Everything You Touch" and The Pixies' "Gouge Away."

18) 1 (Nick Timber), 6 (Decimus), and 12 (Zera) are having dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it?

Zera is the fastest, but she would never grapple over food. If there has been alcohol with the dim sum, then Nick and Decimus end up wrestling over it briefly, starting a brawl, and leaving the place as best friends.

19) What might be a good pick-up line for 2 (Quinn) to use on 10 (Capt. Hutch)?

"Would you like to see the library on alien species on my space ship?"

20) What would 5 (Cyrus Vance) most likely be arrested for?

Smuggling contraband. It's happened before.

21) What is 6's (Decimus's) secret?

Oh... it was a good one. He was going to those secret meetings where they talk about this prophet who rose from the dead and claimed to be the son of god.

Is it telling that the only Christian character I've ever played was a (recovering) viscious thug? Playing up the "secret cult of mysterious weirdos" aspect of early Christianity was fun.

22) If 11 (Steel Titan) and 9 (Fang Lei) were racing to a destination, who would get there first?

Well... Steel Titan can leap tall buildings with a single bound. Fang Lei has a fast sky skimmer. It would be a photo finish, assuming Steel Titan didn't cheat.

23) If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 (Zero Point) or 8 (Thana)?

Um. I'll just walk myself home, thanks.

24) 1 (Nick) and 9 (Fang Lei) reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by 4's (Petros's) sinister secret organization. 11 (Steel Titan) volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that he/she is actually a spy for 4 (Petros). Meanwhile, 4 (Petros) has kidnapped 12 (Zera) in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of 5 (Cyrus), they seek out 3 (Leocedes), who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fic?

"Island of the Burning Damned." Obviously.
